A trip to Blue Mountains Botanic Garden

The Blue Mountains Botanic Garden in Mount Tomah is a magical place to explore with the family this weekend. Having celebrated its’ 30th birthday in 2017, the garden is one of the highlights of the region, with 28 hectares to explore. There are over 20,000 plants on site, including 900 different species to see, and the garden is focused on the conservation of cool climate plants.

There are several different spaces to check out while you’re there: start in the formal garden surrounded by colourful flowers, then head down to the Rock Garden to see some South African Proteas and finish off at the Gondwana walk, with a stroll through the towering Eucalyptus. Keep an eye on the website for season tours that feature hands-on activities like planting your own bulbs.

While in the botanic garden, make sure to stop by The Potager, the on-site restaurant with spectacular views over the valley. It’s open for breakfast and lunch from Wednesday through to Sunday, and the menu is bursting with fresh produce.

If you’re looking to make a weekend of your trip, Eden Farm Escape at Eden Equine is a fantastic place to spend the night. A working equine farm, with luxury farm-stay cottages, this place has stunning views over the beautiful Blue Mountains. A weekend here means you can hang out with all the friendly animals on site, from horses and miniature donkeys, to alpacas, sheep, goats and more! Eden Equine also offers agistment, equine-assisted learning, riding lessons and more.

It’s the perfect getaway for any occasion – from a romantic retreat to a holiday with the family.
