How to spend a weekend in Dubbo

Dubbo is regularly offering new and interesting experiences — and there’s no more fascinating experience than the newly-opened Flying Doctor Visitor Experience. Educational, interactive, emotive and a whole lot of fun, the Flying Doctor Visitor Experience aims to share the incredible work of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) with the general public. Visitors can hear stories of those whose lives have been saved or bettered by the incredible work of the RFDS. There are fantastic installations, including augmented reality experiences to engage with, as well as a merchandise shop and a café.

There’s another new kid on the block in the Dubbo tourism scene, and it’s located just out of town. The Dubbo Rhino Lodge is a ‘glamp site’, consisting of fourteen stylish and durable tents, complete with stunning en suites, air con, and TVs. There’s also a fantastic restaurant and bar on-site, as well as a swimming pool and kids playground, plus a function centre available for weddings and other events.

Back in town, in the industrial area, is Dubbo’s first craft brewery — Devil’s Elbow. Named after a bend in a local river, Devil’s Elbow offers a range of fresh, tasty craft beers, brewed onsite. They also roast their own coffee beans, so there’s a brew for everyone! The in-house restaurant has a selection of delicious dishes, with many incorporating byproducts of the beer-making process, as well as sumptuous wood-fired pizzas.
