My Sydney Weekender with Jamie Durie

Lizzy Lovette gets to spend a day with Jamie Durie, discovering all the things he loves to do on Sydney’s Northern Beaches: bushwalking, paddling and dining by the water!

Jamie Durie is an Australian icon: dynamic television host, Australian horticulturalist, landscape designer, furniture designer, television host and producer, and author of 11 books on landscape architecture, garden design and lifestyle.

To start off the day Jamie meets Lizzy at the foreshore walk at McCarrs Creek Reserve, the perfect venue to introduce Jamie’s puppies Luna and Chuck both Rhodesian Ridgebacks.

After the meet and greet, they head off on a kayak tour near Church Point with Sam from SydneyKayak. Sam knows all the secret spots to find tranquillity, including beautiful waterfalls, and also has a keen knowledge of Pittwater and it’s history.

Jamie also surprises Lizzy with his knowledge of the local flora and fauna and gets a quick lesson or two on everything green.

To finish off a day on the water they cruise up to the wharf at The Waterfront General Store & Café and head inside for a bite to eat. They meet one of Jamie’s favourite locals ‘Mother Mary’ as he calls her. Mary is the owner – she has a real green thumb, tending to all the plants at the café. And the main thing Jamie and Mary have in common? They both love chatting about plants and food!!!
