Mel is on a long weekend in Alice Springs in the Northern Territory – which is closer and easier to get to than you think! Here she checks out Parrtjima – a Festival in Light which will illuminate Alice Springs from April 5 – 14, 2019. She meets well-known Australian artist – Patricia Ansell Dodds – and experiences the workshops, talks, live performances, art installations and light shows on offer across the festival at the two precincts (Todd Mall & the Desert Park). Mel also chats with locals enjoying the festival and gets an insight into the connection to country told through light and art. Illuminating 2.5 kilometres of the epic MacDonnell Ranges and spilling into Alice Springs Desert Park, Parrtjima provides a breathtaking outdoor gallery experience presenting local artwork, culture and stories, with interactive installations the whole family can enjoy.
The spectacular free public event will be held in the hub of the Red Centre over 10 nights, showcasing the oldest continuous culture on earth through the newest technology on a 300-million-year-old natural canvas.
