Two restaurants to try in Sydney’s CBD

Hello Auntie is a Vietnamese fusion restaurant, serving up a menu of traditional favourites, and new-school ideas. Owner and Chef Cuong Nyugen trained in Italian and French cuisines, before turning his sites to his Vietnamese heritage and learning some traditional tips from the best cook he knew – his mum! He now works alongside his mum Linda at their Marrickville restaurant, and new venue in Darling Square.

Coung has created a menu that brings new flavours and techniques to some of his favourite Vietnamese dishes. Tasty options include the fresh rice paper rolls with pork or chicken skewers, and fragrant salads with duck and green papaya. You can’t leave without trying their signature ‘Pho’ soup. The broth takes 16 hours to cook and is a family recipe perfected by Cuong’s mum.

Metisse is an innovative French restaurant in Potts Point, owned and run by restauranteur and chef Opel Khan. Opel has over 25 years experience in the industry and trained in France. He now heads up an all-French team of chefs, which includes his 19 year old daughter Lucinda. His goal is to offer quality, fine-dining French food, at an affordable price, and the menu features some of the best local produce.

Try delicious dishes like the slow cooked lamb with ratatouille and red wine glaze, or the duck leg confit with bean cassoulet. And make sure you leave room for dessert, the apple tarte tatin with cinnamon parfait is a show stopper!
